The key to the success of the Precision Hunter™ ammo lies in the Hornady® ELD-X® bullet. The ELD-X® bullet with its patented Heat Shield Tip enhances the performance of all cartridge calibers by providing improved ballistics while maintaining the ability to rapidly expand on impact. This combination of radically improved accuracy and excellent expansion is guaranteed to produce successful results in the field.

The masterfully crafted Precision Hunter™ cartridges are capable of providing deadly performance on both high and low velocity impacts. When the bullet hits at a high velocity the bullet continually expands as it penetrates into and through the animal. The thick shank of the jacket and high position of the interlock ring keep both the lead core and the jacket together to maintain 50 to 60% of the original bullet weight. During low velocity impacts (those taking place beyond 400 yards) the Heat Shield tip on the ELD-X® bullet drives back into the bullet to initiate the expansion process. At longer ranges the bullet will retain between 85 and 90% of its original weight. No matter the distance you end up pulling the trigger at, you can count on these bullets to deliver deep penetration and large wound cavities, ensuring your animal stops in its tracks.
