Lyman™ No. 2 Tang Peep Sight Marlin 336 1895, 30 Series

The Lyman™ No. 2 Tang Peep Sight Marlin 336 1895, 30 Series - Lyman has recreated the legendary sight that the Lyman Gun Sight Company was founded on in 1878. Like the original, the #2 is constructed of blued steel and features height index marks on the aperture post, with maximum elevation of .800" for long range shooting. The #2 Tang Sight's greater sight radius means an inherent increase in accuracy. The #2 Tang Sight includes both a .093 diameter quick sighting hunting aperture and a .040 diameter Large Disk Target Aperture. Also included is a replacement rear stock screw and front tang screw. This Marlin version features a special adapter which allows mounting on the tang without damaging the serial number. Please Note: All Marlin lever actions will need to be drilled and tapped before mounting. This sight will not work on new rifles with a tang safety.

A good sight for a reasonable price. The quality is good and it works very well for me in cowboy action shooting.

I put this on my Marlin 1895 in 45/70 and made the mistake of thinking you had to drill the front hole into the tang . That hole and short screw is just to line up the base shim if you need it and on a Marlin you will. I messed up and drilled thru my serial number so it\'s good it\'s gonna be a family heirloom . As for it not standing strait as the instructions state clearly you must shim it to one side or the other with paper till it\'s perfectly between the ears of the bolt when the bolt is fully rearward . As for cons? The marks are hard to see for older eyes like mine but a previous reviewer said use paint and it works It comes with both a small and large aperture and if you have a fold down rear sight on your rifle it works even better. You can use the rear sight to get it lined up and set for a starting point and go from there. All in all its a great addition to your rifle and WILL allow you to make shots you never thought were possible . You won\'t be disappointed if you give it a try
