The Nikon® Monarch™ Fieldscope is one of the latest products to roll off the production line from one of the world’s leading glass manufacturers. Nikon® has long been known for their ultra-high quality lens designs with class-leading clarity and multilayer coatings. The Monarch™ spotting scope line is back and better than ever. This Monarch™ Fieldscope, featuring the straight body design, is great for glassing from your truck or on a tripod.
The Monarch™ is available in two different sizes, 16-48x60mm and 20-60x82mm. Weighing in at just over 4 pounds, including cover and accessories, the 16-48x60mm is lightweight, compact, and perfect for all-day packing trips. The 20-60x82mm model is going to allow more light transmission, however, it weighs almost 2 pounds more and is less compact, which reduces the convenience in your pack. The straight-bodied models feature a Porro Prism, while the angled bodies utilize a Total Reflection Prism. Using these prisms removes any potential for light loss or a reduction in clarity, which is only found on higher-end spotting scopes.
The Monarch™ Fieldscopes feature Nikon’s patented field flattening technology, which allows users to experience edge-to-edge sharpness across the field of view. Another new feature on this spotting scope is what Nikon® calls the ‘advanced apochromatic optical system’. This new technology reduces color fringing and provides a crisper overall image. The Nikon® Monarch™ Fieldscope features ED™ glass, which is featured across the higher-end Nikon® products, including their renowned camera lenses.
The Monarch™ spotting scope is equally adept at the range or in the field. This scope is built with durability and lightweight in mind. The body of the Monarch™ is waterproof, fog-proof, and dustproof. The aircraft-grade aluminum body is also filled with Nitrogen to help clarity and to reduce the potential for fogging. Part of the body is the focus ring, which offers effortless adjustment. New to the Monarch™ series of spotting scopes, this adjustment dial precisely hones in both coarse and fine adjustments.
Developed especially for the Monarch™ Fieldscope, Nikon® has released several new eyepieces. Each new eyepiece provides the Field Flattener Technology, waterproof construction, and a wide field of view. The magnification adjustment on the Monarch™ scopes is built into the eyepiece, which allows for lenses to be replaced or exchanged easily. As an accessory, you can swap out your standard eyepiece to a ‘wide’ version or even a fixed 38x eyepiece.
Each Monarch™ includes a camera-style lens cap, which is both durable and ultra-secure, and a protecting cover with integrated strap, which will help soften any blows and protects from scratches to your scope. If you’re in the market for a new spotting scope, the Monarch™ should easily be at the top of your list. With high-quality glass, rugged construction, and Nikon’s No-Fault Lifetime Warranty, you can’t go wrong with the Monarch™.
